Maintenance Engineering

Ingegneria di Manutenzione

manutenzioneOur approach to Maintenance Engineering follows the guiding principles of TPM® (Total Productive Maintenance).

In summary:

  • Prevention
  • Monitoring
  • Multidisciplinary Work Group (Maintenance, Production, Planning, Quality, Safety)
  • Autonomous maintenance (direct and selected contribution to the maintenance by the Financial Year)
  • Continuous improvement (including training at all levels)

WHY

Why maintenance

Any maintenance activity, to give the best results, must be part of a structured Project of Maintenance Engineering. In particular, every form of prevention and continuous improvement, planned and programmed after an analysis conducted following internationally approved criteria, are a solution to the spontaneous failure. A necessary condition of success for a leading-edge company is a Maintenance Engineering formalized and operating with the best technologies on the market.

Computerized Systems

Computerized systems

The management of the maintenance by SIM (Maintenance Information System) or CMMS (computerized maintenance management system) is a necessary condition of success for the Maintenance Engineering.

Experience shows that proper implementation of the SIM or CMMS requires special training to avoid mistakes of the initial setting that may affect irreversibly the efficiency and effectiveness of the software tool. By way of example, the most common mistakes involve:

  • Setting dell'Anagrafica or Equipment Tree System (non-hierarchical logic of representation and coding, "explosion" over or under)
  • The layout of the "masks" the issue and figures, requests / work orders (fields required excessive or insufficient)
  • The contents of the fields required, which must be set up to enable immediate queries and to support strategic decisions and management techniques
  • The link between the "objects of maintenance" surveyed and its spare parts.
  • Failure to specific training of staff responsible for populating the SIM / CMMS and to check the consistency of the data entered.

Auditech supports its customers with specific training courses, scaleable according to the degree of culture existing maintenance. The training approach is independent from SW selected by the customer and is formulated to cover the two most common needs:

  • There is no SIM / CMMS. In this case induction training is provided through the use of our templates specific to Excel, which render productive existing data and totally "imported" and used positioned in the final.
  • There SIM / CMMS, but the degree of employment is not considered sufficient by the customer. In this case we analyze the strengths / weaknesses in the current implementation and we design an adjusted customized plan.

The goal is to enable the customer to acquire a structure Maintenance Engineering line with international standards and fully independent.

Predictive Maintenance

Predictive Maintenance

Auditech engineers have the ability to understand and monitor the "weak signals" related to the state of reliability of items controlled as a feature of excellence. In particular through the integration of Ultrasound technology with Thermography and Vibrational Analysis. Auditech Engineers are certified according to ISO and ASNT at the highest level.

Thermography

Thermography is a noninvasive technique that allows you to see the infrared spectrum. Infrared is an electromagnetic radiation with a frequency band of the electromagnetic spectrum lower than that of visible light, but greater than that of radio waves, or in a wavelength between 700 nm and 1 mm (infrared band).

Light spectrum

Thermal images obtained through thermography are called thermograms. They allow a qualitative and quantitative picture obtained, which is used to calculate the temperature at any point in the above image.

Auditech uses this technique individually and in synergy with ultrasound with the main objective of providing support the inspection of the system components , allowing you to anticipate failures and to plan in advance the maintenance tasks for those components . In this way you get :

  • Reduce maintenance costs
  • increase the mean time between failures (MTBF )
  • avoid unplanned downtime
  • maximize the reliability of the machines
  • extend the useful life of the machinery.

Currently , thermal imaging has become a technique of great value and reliability in the steel industry , cement plants , petrochemical , paper , plastic , textile, chemical and many others. The non-contact measurement is the key concept that has made this technique the most important tool for predictive maintenance in recent years with a variety of applications in all industrial sectors

Main application areas

Among the applications of thermography are :

  • Electrical Systems : cables, switchboards, circuit across the energy
  • Control of machines and pipes.
  • In the case of inspections of the product stream , the temperature is used as an indicator of an abnormal condition in the same. Engine termography
  • Loss of safety valves, steam coal deposits and can be verified with measurements made by thermography.
  • Control of refractory and thermal insulation in furnaces, boilers , reactors, chimneys, flues gas , tanks and insulated ducts.
  • In the steel industry , blast furnaces , regenerators , castings .
  • Construction and maintenance of buildings

Energy Efficiency

Energy Efficiency

Energy efficiency is the relationship between what has been achieved in terms of products and services and the energy used for the purpose. The less energy is used, the greater the efficiency of the process leading to a certain service / product.

In physics and engineering, energy efficiency is defined as a dimensionless number with a value between 0 and 1, or, when multiplied by 100, is expressed in percentage. The energy efficiency of a process is defined as:

Efficiency formula

Improving energy efficiency, and the resulting energy savings can be achieved through technologies, components and more or less complex systems, and by the more conscious and responsible behavior of the final users.

WHY

Why Energy Saving

Approaching the world of energy savings is natural to ask: Why we should make a production system more efficient?

The environmental problems linked to global warming and pollution as well as the importance of thinking to a more sustainable development, are well known to everybody.

These issues have been raised several times and by various institutions. Initially it was just a scientific debate, but then the debate has widened to environmental groups and opinion until it touches the national and international institutions. Just think of the election campaigns of Al Gore and Obama for president of the United States of America or any international agreement on climate like that of Kyoto. Lately even Pope Francis took a stand on environmental issues, in the encyclical "Praise" dedicated to ecology or the "mother earth."

A first and important reason is surely to preserve the world around us and in which we live, and ultimately preserve ourselves and our children.

However, the obvious objection that is raised in this statement: "I am the owner of a company, not a charity, my goal is profit not save the planet."

This statement is daughter of a faulty logic, which sees energy efficiency as something economically wasteful that has been made interesting only with government incentives, but it is also forgotten that neglecting the energy efficiency implies a "hidden cost in the balance sheet items" that is not carefully considered.

This cost, , for example, is hidden in the power consumption due to the losses of compressed air distribution line or because of non-recovery of waste heat from a process with natural gas.

One of the most important goals of Auditech is to carry out audits designed specifically for your company with the aim to assess what are the most cost-effective energy efficiency measures that can be economically sustainable without government incentives.

Our first energy audit is an important step in understanding what actions to take to optimize energy consumption.

CMMS Planning and Scheduling

CMMSAuditech supports the client by integrating modules for planning & scheduling of the CMMS in place, with early diagnosis and monitoring plans developed following the carried out checks and the inspections made. Auditech supports customer also in the development from scratches of P & S modules in the case of CMMS being implemented.
