Thermography is a noninvasive technique that allows you to see the infrared spectrum. Infrared is an electromagnetic radiation with a frequency band of the electromagnetic spectrum lower than that of visible light, but greater than that of radio waves, or in a wavelength between 700 nm and 1 mm (infrared band).
Thermal images obtained through thermography are called thermograms. They allow a qualitative and quantitative picture obtained, which is used to calculate the temperature at any point in the above image.

Main application areas
Among the applications of thermography are :
- Electrical Systems : cables, switchboards, circuit across the energy
- Control of machines and pipes.
- In the case of inspections of the product stream , the temperature is used as an indicator of an abnormal condition in the same.
- Loss of safety valves, steam coal deposits and can be verified with measurements made by thermography.
- Control of refractory and thermal insulation in furnaces, boilers , reactors, chimneys, flues gas , tanks and insulated ducts.
- In the steel industry , blast furnaces , regenerators , castings .
- Construction and maintenance of buildings
